Cant download files from my gmail

I used to be able to download and view any incoming email attachments but now I can't. I also cannot download a photo to send via email. Gmail that is.I wonder ig I have disabled something that allows me to do these actions., Can someone help me please.I am a novice and am still learning about my PC.
